Dental Implants

Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.

What Are Dental Implants?

The dental implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.   Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

The Surgical Procedure

A comprehensive exam will help us determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. If you need bone grafting to increase your bone density prior to surgery, we will let you know and provide you with options!

Most patients are good candidates for dental implants, but some medical conditions or medications may prevent you from dental surgery.   If dental implants are a good option for you, we will place your dental implant. This requires surgery, but most patients report it was much easier than they imagined!

As you heal, your dental implant will begin to fuse with your bone, creating a stable foundation for your crown.  The entire process usually takes three to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

Once you heal, we will create a custom dental crown that matches your existing teeth. This is the part of the implant that will be visible when you smile. Because we take great care creating dental implants for our patients, your smile will look seamless and natural.
